Top Advice on Starting a Bed And Breakfast

It is an exciting new “down-home” type of businesses are growing up among homeowners across the country. It’s called Bed and Breakfast. Basically, this is a transplant of European Hospitality adapted and refined to the American way of doing things. For foreign visitors, there is comfort and hospitality of home – overnight “with people of the land” and enjoy a hearty breakfast – without the traditional flash and plastic feelings visitors get from most major U.S. cities. U.S. citizens, it is a welcome alternative to the same old hotel / motel circuit, Now all we need is an extra bedroom, a good cook and an outgoing personality. Prices per night range from a low of $ 25 to $ 100 or more. If you have an extra bedroom, a large home, or extra space on your farm, you have the necessary beginning to start earning extra income as a Bed and Break fast Inn. One of the most beautiful aspects of this idea is that as long as you are hosting “overnight visitors” on a small scale, will no license required. It is always best, however, check with your local authorities just to be safe. Of course, your “visitors” to wait for a clean, neat and comfortable home. So assuming that your home meets these prerequisites, and you have an extra bedroom, simply ‘doll up’ a bit. Make sure it is painted clear, there is an outside window, lots of room, closet space and bureau, and perhaps a small desk and a large comfortable bed or two twin beds. Most foreign visitors will expect and appreciate a “quick tour” of interesting sights in your area. But as your popularity as a B & B Host grows, you’ll see that many American tourists and business people about to start using your hospitality. Certainly with these people, it will not always necessary to give the “Red Carpet” visitors “treatment. This brings us to the basic appeal of a Bed and Breakfast Inn. Travelers appear to be looking for, and appreciate a quiet “home-style” place to stay. Generally, they enjoy visiting with people off the highway and want to get away from the sterilized atmosphere and sameness of hotels and motels. Most people will either write to you in advance, inquiring about the possibilities to stay at home while in your town or city. This does little advertising on your site, or your availability with a B & B broker. Some people will check the local telephone listings and newspaper advertisements when they arrive in an unfamiliar city. And some people will just drive across the country, coming to a town or city they think is interesting, and start driving through neighborhoods looking for Bed and Breakfast Inns. Therefore, you should have a small sign posted either in your yard or on the front of the house. This sign need not be much more than about two meters wide and about ten inches deep. The only state: Bed and Breakfast – The Question or call 123-4567. For newspaper advertising, a similar list of the personal column of your local newspaper, especially on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, be all you need. But when it comes to the yellow pages of your telephone and business directories, go with a small display ad that describes the details of comfort and enjoyment of your services. Be sure to list your services with all travel agents in your area. A brochure or a brief summary of what you can offer the most secure travel agents provide an idea to steer visitors away. At the same time, with your services on a number of national travel magazines – particularly those that meet women – will bring customers to you. List your services with a broker usually will not cost you anything on the front, but they will expect a certain percentage – usually about 25% of the total invoice. The same arrangement applies with travel agents. Now assume you are organized and ready to receive your first customers. You greet them as host or hostess and offer to help them get situated in the same room or rooms you have for them. If they want to take a trip around the area and see interesting places, you do so. And then tomorrow, serving them a big, delicious breakfast. You’ll probably find that foreign visitors will want to stay several days. Most people in this country that just passes through your area, it will be a one-night stopover. Whether they want to sleep comfortably through the night, eat breakfast in the morning and be on the road, so be it. If they want to sit for breakfast and plan an itinerary for a complete visit in your area, your support and help will be greatly appreciated. (Remember, these recommendations)! That’s it! The complete how and why of this tremendously profitable business that’s becoming more and more popular. It’s called Bed & Breakfast, and it is clearly a low investment idea. And you can Parlay it a very interesting and comfortable income producing activity can – everything from the comfort of your own home!

Mexico?s Civil War Killing More Americans

Michael Webster: Investigative Reporter August 1, 2008 12:30 PDT The Mexican and U.S. Governments are in denial. The dictionary definition of civil war indicates that a civil war is a military conflict that arises out of a desire for usually radical change in society as a result of either cultural, social, religious, political or economic disputes due to diametrically opposed and uncompromising ideas about leadership, administration and management of population and territory it occupies, and which it resolved by the use of weapons. This seems to describe the current situation in Mexico today as the Mexican government for the war against the powerful Mexican drug cartels. Since the beginning of this year more than 4,000 people have been murdered in Mexico in what authorities blame on the Mexican cartels and their criminal gangs and paramilitary forces. A 11-year-old U.S. citizen from El Paso was killed recently at a highway robbery in the Durango-Mazatlan road in Mexico. The boy, Rico Armando Bañuelas, was on a family trip to Mazatlan when robbers tried to stop the Volkswagen Jetta he was riding in near a section of mountain road known as “El Espinazo del Diablo (Devil’s spine), El Siglo de Durango newspaper reported. The robbers opened fire, killing Rico, when the Jetta sped past a roadblock the bandits had set up and used to rob bus passengers and other vehicles. Rey del Valle, and Rico’s mother was injured Norma Patricia chairez,. ”American citizens should be aware of the risk posed by the deteriorating security situation in Mexico and along the border” said a statement in Mexico City and Washington. “Violent crime, including murder and kidnapping in Mexico has increased.” New cases of disappearances and kidnap-for-ransom continue to be reported. No one can be considered immune from kidnapping on the basis of occupation, nationality, or other factors. Criminals have been known to follow and harass U.S. citizens traveling in their vehicles, particularly in border areas including Nuevo Laredo, Matamoros, Reynosa, Juarez, Mexicali, Tijuana and especially the border cities. 23 years old American Kyle Mostello Belanger has been reported missing since May and is believed to have been kidnapped and held against his will for ransom in Juarez Mexico. The information has been submitted to the Mexican government and the FBI and other U.S. agencies without adequate follow-up investigations much less locating arresting and punishing their perpetrators. U.S. law enforcement authorities helped facilitate a $ 32,000 ransom payment in Mexico for a relative of a U.S. congressman who was kidnapped by gunmen in Ciudad Juarez, a border city across from El Paso Texas. Kidnapping took place in Mexico not on U.S. soil, but in an imaginary country. The victim was not even an American citizen but a Mexican citizen. Until a prominent U.S. citizen is abducted, the problem will not get much attention in the media and the public. Jake Mendoza of El Paso, called the newspaper and asked, “How is it that a kidnapping in a feign country of a putative national will be investigated and resolved by American law enforcement while others are not so connected Americans who are now out for ransom some who are believed to have kidnapped from American soil, and taken to an imaginary country, and held for ransom. While still other Americans have been executed, murdered, wounded and held for ransom in Mexico, but apparently American judiciary investigation or follow-up, how can it be? “ According to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) in a letter to the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff asking for an investigation into Immigration and Custom Enforcement’s (ICE) recent efforts to obtain the release of a Mexican woman kidnapped in Ciudad Juarez , Mexico. The family raised the money, according to AM. On 21 June, two men on a motorcycle collected ransom money at a Juarez street corner but ran off and eluded investigators who had staked out the drop site. Mrs. Posselt was released several hours later, and Mexican authorities quickly transferred her to their American counterparts, who rushed her to the U.S. for “security reasons” according to the ICE memo. No arrests have been made La Mesa California woman Libby Gianna Craig was among four people found shot dead in a canyon near Rosarito Beach in Baja California. The 28-year-old was in an area known as Morro Canyon along with three Afro-American males, Mexican police identified as “black Americans”. Early reports also said more bodies were found at a different location at different points of Playas de Rosarito, reported some Mexican papers. All the shootings were apparently deliberate, targeted, not just random bystanders caught up in the wave of violence that has engulfed U.S. Mexican border cities, Mexican authorities said. Also recently four Americans were shot and injured when they left the Arriba Chihuahua nightclub in ProNaF tourist area in the violent Mexican border city of Juárez. The Mexican government has described much of the violence as revenge for President Felipe Calderón has annual crackdown on organized crime that sent thousands of soldiers and federal police into violence-plagued Mexican cities and all Mexican cities bordering the U.S.. Mexican President Felipe Calderón, who, while other officials have promised to break the country’s powerful drug cartels, which earn billions of dollars a year by supplying U.S. users. The Foreign Ministry said the police in the Mexican border communities “suffer from lack of resources and training, and the judicial system is weak, overworked and inefficient.” ”I am afraid that the inability of local law enforcement to deal with the growing drug war, kidnappings and random street violence will have a dampening effect on cross-border exchange, tourism and commerce so vital to the region’s prosperity,” Traffickers are armed with AK-47 rifles , grenade launchers and bazookas. They’re carrying other weapons, wearing vests with police jargon. Within a minute or two, someone is shoving a hood over the victim’s head and drag him into a vehicle. His car is left on the side of the road – often outgunning and intimidating border police, sheriff depts. And Mexican security forces. An alarming number of Americans are vanishing in Mexico where there has been a dramatic increase in the number of U.S. citizens who have recently been reported missing or kidnapped along the border with Mexico, reports the Washington Post. Many who have vanished from U.S. cities are still missing and fears that they will show up in mass graves that were discovered recently in Mexico. The U.S. government help Mexico under the provisions of the Merida Initiative, a multi-year $ 1. 4 billion drug that was approved by Congress. As reported earlier this year in the Laguna / El Paso Journal many Americans are wondering when the Bush administration will increase the travel alert to its highest level “travel warning” to forewarn American travelers to Mexico? How many U.S. citizens will have to be shot, executed or kidnapped before the American government go to prevent needless deaths and issue the proper high alert of “travel warning” for Americans Drug wars in Mexico has claimed a dozen or more journalists. Last year, the Houston Chronicle reported that “Statistics vary among watchdog groups, but they agree that Mexico has surpassed Colombia, a country plagued by decades of guerrilla and drug violence, the number of journalists killed each year. Seven Mexican journalists were killed last year, according to a count of the Miami-based Inter American Press Association. The Paris-based Reporters Without Borders was consistent nine murders, and the Federation of Mexican Journalist Association reported 12th According to the Chronicle “Many Mexican reporters, particularly in the beleaguered rand States, has stopped writing about organized crime, and when the drug war spreads south, journalists across the country become targets. On 3 May, World Press Freedom Day, the decapitated the body of a local drug dealer turned up outside a newspaper in the eastern port city of Veracruz. According to local press reports, the killers left this warning: “For Milo, you pay all. You know it, and more heads of damned reporters will roll. “The threat was supposed to be directed at Milo Vera, a local journalist.” There’s total impunity, “said Jose Antonio Calcanio, chairman of the Federation of Mexican Journalist Association, which represents 137 journalist groups nationwide. “The government has no interest in resolving some of these cases,” Calcanio said. “It is only when there is an important issue that Amado Ramirez that they pretend to act, but they forget, and nothing happens.” Two suspects were arrested in the days after the radio host murder, but both were released on bail. Many of Ramirez colleagues suspected that the men were scapegoats. “ Dozens of U.S. citizens have been kidnapped or held hostage, or killed by their captors in Mexico and in many cases remain unresolved. In addition, new cases of disappearances and kidnap-for-ransom continue to be reported. From Brownsville Texas to San Diego California and as far north as Dallas Texas Americans are being kidnapped and killed. All of this is escalating narcotics-related violence in northern Mexico, the State Department has warned Americans about the dangers of crossing the border. But there are no records of Americans who are kidnapped here on American soil and taken and held for ransom or even killed. Mexican cartels through there enforcers of Mexican and American gangs order smaller American gangs to kidnap and in some cases murder Americans. Mexican cartel Los Zetas paramilitary attacking substitutes and slaughtered an American in Phoenix Arizona police attackers were dressed in black military like combat uniforms similar to known Mexican cartel paramilitary gangs. Phoenix papers report that 6 Mexicans killed a Phoenix man who was found dead by police in a local neighborhood home riddled with more than 100 bullets. Of the few that the FBI reported as known kidnappings there were 30 U.S. citizens have been kidnapped or disappeared, nine were later released, two found dead and 13 still missing. The FBI now refuses to estimate the number of Americans kidnapped or murdered in Mexico. Those earlier reports had it out, and officials believe the true figures are much higher. All 30 were Americans just from the San Diego area alone. How many other U. S. citizens are there? Nobody seems to know for sure. But there are others more from the border cities like El Paso. ”The U.S. government would like to think that drug violence is just a problem south of the Rio Grande. It is not,” said Raymundo Ramos, human rights advocate in Nuevo Laredo. It is believed now that there are many more Americans missing many others from Nuevo Laredo, Matamoros, Reynosa, Juarez, Mexicali, Tijuana and other border cities. When we asked the FBI said that they did not have any numbers since the 30 reported. But my source says El Paso FBI agent Josie Figaro was notified of at least one episode. And it is believe that there are others. Law enforcement officials said some of vanishing may be due to a war among Mexican drug cartels competing for control of smuggling routes and ports of entry which is the gateway for millions of dollars of drugs that are smuggled north by truck, car, boats and trains and mixed with loads of legal goods. American officials say, “We see direct lawlessness along the U.S. Mexican border. It’s just getting out of hand.” Historically, drug-related violence has been generally confined to the Mexican side of the border, news reports revealed. However, that pattern is changing, advised officials. Despite the dangers Mexico continues to attract U.S. citizens who wish to visit relatives or buy cheaper medicines, have reduced rate dental work or prescription eyewear or just be tourist. There is also a draw for young people, who migrate there on weekends to party late and enjoy the lower drinking age of 18. Mexico has sent federal police and Mexican army personal to patrol the streets of most of the cities bordering the U.S. The officers were sent at the request of local authorities who said crime had spun out of control. ”American citizens should be aware of the risk posed by the deteriorating security situation,” State Department advisory has said, although it has gone so far as to urge Americans to avoid Mexico. Downtown El Paso businessman Jamie Rodriguez said “if the same circumstance that now exist in Mexico existed in any other country the U.S. Department would advise the Americans do not even go there.” The close relationship between the two governments and indeed both presidents may contribute to COMPLIANCY shown Mexico by the U.S. government. In Mexico another dangerous crime against tourist is you can be kidnapped in what is more like a shakedown or robbery than a classic ransom situation. As what is believed happened to 11 year-old American Rico Armando Bañuelas. An FBI official said the apparent rapid evolution of a cottage industry of kidnapping for ransom – some of them returned alive were held captive for days or months after their abductors demanded payments as high as $ 100,000. American tourists have reported that the Mexican police that while driving along main and rural roads at dusk or after dark. Roadblocks set up. This can be as sophisticated as a movable plank with spikes or low-tech as glass or sharp stones. When their motor home or car is disabled, a group of armed Banditos approached them with drawn weapons. Often starts a truck or van parked alongside the road up and slowly approaches the scene. The men often dressed as Mexican police begin to take their belongings and poke through their belongings. Since in many cases have been reported they take all the victims cash. Victims report hoods are placed over their heads they are loaded into trucks and SUV’s and driven to another location. You may be asked again for more money. In more cases then not Mexican police report the woman are raped and the victim tourists are abandoned far from their vehicles. It has been reported some high-profile cases in which victims, including two American college women, who were slain after they robbed. Sophisticated Mexican groups plot abductions Organized, well-financed and violent Mexican kidnapping cells are targeting a growing number of U.S. citizens visiting Mexico. While the FBI did not want to say what the ransom demands are, or how often they’re paid, agents said money driving the increase. Some of the kidnappings go unreported because people are afraid of punishment, “says Eric Drickersen, which oversees the FBI’s office cross-border cooperation. Although the U.S. military has the tape from entering Mexico due to increasing violence. U.S. soldiers say they have stopped issuing passports to soldiers who want to travel across the border into Mexico. “If it is not safe for American soldiers, yet it is unsafe for other Americans”. Said, John Lutes who was born in the border city of El Paso Texas and served in the military. Mexican drug cartels ordered Decapitation blind folding and hooding victims before they shot them. The Cartels are sending a chilling message to Mexican President Felipe Calderón administration by methods of intimidation by the infamous Middle East terrorist groups. Google or click on: New terrorist bases South of the Border Dozens of people have been decapitated in Mexico so far this year, with heads stuck on fence posts, are in garbage bags and head thrown onto a nightclub dance floor for everyone. Report on Mexican Violence An unknown – but significant – number of executions continues to occur in states like Nuevo Laredo: Chihuahua, Baja California Norte, Tabasco, Guerrero, Michoacan, Veracruz, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Chiapas and Coahuila. All Mexico States are experiencing numerous law enforcement deaths, as well as multiple kidnappings occurring regularly. Kidnapping as a warning to the government and other enemies were recorded with specific messages attached. Evaluated methods and types of violence against murder victims were: Physical abuse, torture, into the street, or the body was dumped in the street or lot torture where the beating, tooth removal, appendage removal, death by torture, strangulation, single shot in the head and / or several shots in the head and body. Other tactics were same as above with head and / or face fully or partially wrapped with tape or other head wrappings or blind folds. Bodies are often disposed by the alternate “Pozole” method. Many were beheaded with or without written messages on bodies or in vehicles. Many Mexican law enforcement officials have joined the cartels for money or in some cases they themselves if they do not cooperate with the cartels they would become victims of this horror.
